Pulaski Animal Hospital Covid Statement, 06/27/20 To our clients: Despite the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago moving into stage 4, Pulaski Animal Hospital has made the decision to keep our building free of clients for an indefinite amount of time. This decision was not taken lightly, as we know the inconvenience and stress it causes you, our clients, but any decision we made, put safety of both our staff and you the client first. 1. Amongst our staff, we have several team members or their immediate family with health concerns that would be comorbid to Covid, while others are caring for and or living with elderly family members. We also have team members with young families and 7 members over the age of 60. Out of respect to them and their families, we choose not to cause any additional risk to their health. 2. Reopening is only an option if it could be done safely. Setting the recommended protocols in place to safely reopen the clinic to the public would decrease the amount of patients we would be able to treat in a day. As of this day, we are 4 weeks out on routine appointments and we don’t want to make the interval worse. We also would severely have to limit walk-ins and urgent requests for care. We usually have 3-4 doctors treating patients and only 4 exam rooms. We would be forced to disinfect and leave the exam room empty for some time between each client and constantly sanitize the waiting area. In light of this, a choice had to be made of whether it was more important to see patients or people. We don’t want to sanitize and act as social distance enforcers all day, so choosing to treat your beloved four-legged friends was the best choice. 3. As previously done, an exception will always be made for someone losing an animal. At the time of euthanasia, we will still allow 2 people (with properly worn masks), to be present during this difficult time. It was distressing to hear of Covid patients dying alone and we wanted better for your pets. 4. Since the Covid situation is constantly evolving, we have no timeframe as to when we will reopen the waiting area. We will follow the recommendations of our governing body, the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), the city, state and the CDC closely. 5. Our hours will remain the same as now. We are here Monday-Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am until 3:00pm. We will remain closed on Sundays and Holidays. Thank You for your loyalty, trust and understanding.

We love and appreciate our Techs! Thanks Laura, Ryszard, Daniel, Stephanie and Juan Carlos. Also thanks to our assistants, Evelyn, Lucas and Marta for all they do.
1. In light of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in the area, we would ask that if you are positive or a close family member is positive, that you would reschedule any non-emergency appointments. If you feel that it is urgent, please inform us and arrange to have someone else bring your pet in for you. 2. Routine testing of pets for Covid is not currently recommended by veterinary infectious disease experts or public health veterinarians. 3. The biggest risk to your animals may be lack of planning for those animals in the event you become ill and can not care for them. Protect your pets by planning for their care. The best plan involves the pet staying in it's home but separated from the ill person.

Happy Dios de Los Muertos to all of our Hispanic friends. Many parts of Mexico and other countries celebrate today and tomorrow as a way to remember the family and friends that have gone before us. November 1st (All Saints' Day) and 2nd (All Souls' Day) are also celebrated in Poland where the days are considered national holidays. So we send good wishes also to all of our Polish friends.
Happy Saturday!
There have been a lot of fraudulent sales of pets on social media and we just want to caution you to check and double check before purchasing one. Some of the animals either have been stolen or lost animal that someone is passing off as their own. It is important that you ask for veterinary records or at least the name of the clinic before purchase, and call the clinic to verify. Pulaski Animal Hospital was part of a scam this week where the buyer was given a copy of an invoice supposedly proving that the puppy had the first vaccine and worming at our facility. It was only when the buyer called here to find out when the puppy was due next that the owner, and us, both learned of the fraud. He sent us a copy of the invoice that was in a type format that we haven't used since March of 2019 but it was dated for this past December. The doctor listed on the invoice didn't even work that day! The address listed on the receipt was where the buyer picked up the puppy but it is not from one of our clients. Unfortunately, the phone number listed was no longer being answered. It shows how that with the right computer program anyone can fall victim to fraud. Fortunately, the new owner is very conscientious, loves his puppy and was setting an appointment at his vet asap to start the vaccines as it was obvious the puppy had none. He had a feeling he was being scammed but took the puppy anyway. That is one lucky dog. So... Buyer Beware!
Happy National Bird Day! Whether you have birds for pets at home, or just enjoy the birds in the wild, today is a day to celebrate those feathered friends. So give your bird extra treats today or pick up those binoculars and go for a walk to appreciate the ones outside. Every year we gather as a team after closing on New Years Eve for a toast to celebrate both the old and the new year. This year was especially meaningful as 2020 has been so difficult for all. We have grown very close this year as we have had to adjust to working with Covid. We celebrated that we are all still here and reflected on the many people who we have lost. Thank all of you who have been on this journey with us. We truly appreciate your patience, respect and loyalty. Hopefully, the time will come soon when we can see all of you again. Until then, be safe and stay well. Happy New Year 2021!
