About

If you are a pet owner living in Manhattan or the surrounding areas, Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Hell’s Kitchen is the perfect veterinary facility to trust with your pet’s health and happiness. Newly opened in 2016, Pure Paws is an ultra-modern and full-service facility utilizing the most cutting-edge and gentle techniques in the veterinary field. Led by two highly experienced and compassionate veterinarians, there is nothing Drs. Stephanie Liff and Alex Schechter wouldn’t do for the special pets in your life.

We offer a complete list of services to meet the health care needs of all our patients. No matter if your pet is sick or healthy, the team at Pure Paws can help! We focus on preventive care to prevent illness because, of course, we never want to see your furry family members under the weather. For the same reason, we share lots of pet-care tips and client education with you so your pet stays healthy at home between visits.

To keep your pet their happiest and healthiest self, we perform routine wellness exams, vaccines, dental care, parasite testing and control and much more! We also have an in-house lab and advanced imaging technology such as digital radiography and ultrasound so we can find out how to help your pet sooner. While we hope your pet never needs surgery, we are also trained to perform general surgical procedures and we even have a talented surgical specialist on our team for the most complex cases. Some additional services we offer are weight management, behavioral counseling, acupuncture, holistic medicine, and we also have an in-house pharmacy for your convenience.

🍂We've got a 'Tuesday Tip' for fall pet safety! Watch out for those pesky ticks! Just because fall is here doesn’t mean that ticks aren’t still lurking. In fact, according to the University of Rhode Island, many species of ticks are active even into the winter and can survive the first frost. Here are some tips to keep your pet tick-free this fall: 👉Don’t let ticks cozy up. Eliminate their favorite environments, such as leaf and garden litter, where ticks can sometimes survive even into winter. 👉Check for ticks frequently. 👉Continue using tick control and repellent products, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors with your pet enjoying activities like hiking, camping, or hunting. 👉Ask us about regular screening for tick-borne infections. (The Companion Animal Parasite Council recommends screening annually for tick-borne infections.) ❓How are you protecting your pet from ticks? 🍂We've got a 'Tuesday Tip' for fall pet safety! ⚠️Watch out for antifreeze toxicity In preparing for the winter months ahead, people tend to use fall to winterize their cars. This often involves changing fluids such as antifreeze, which can be deadly for pets. Consider this: one to two teaspoons of the stuff can kill a 10-pound dog! Less can kill a 10-pound cat.1 Part of the problem is ethylene glycol, a substance in antifreeze that has a sickly-sweet smell that entices pets to lap it up. That’s why it’s important to clean up spills immediately and make sure your pets steer clear of the garage while you’re working on your vehicle. Read Pet Health Network's in-depth article to learn more about the dangers of antifreeze and other automotive fluids: https://www.pethealthnetwork.com/dog-health/dog-toxins-poisons/keeping-your-pets-safe-garage-hazards ❓How are you storing common garage hazards?
