Pushpom Jomes, M.D. is the Director of Pediatric Asthma Center and the Associate Director, Pediatric Sleep Disorders here at Staten Island University Hospital She is Board Certified in both Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine.
In her role as the Director of Pediatric Asthma Center Dr. James cares for children with respiratory problems, such as asthma, recurrent pneumonia, and chronic lung disease in premature infants. As the Associate Director, Pediatric Sleep Disorders she cares for children with sleep apnea which could result in behavior problems and difficulty focusing. Dr. James' research interests include the sensitivity of allergy testing when a child is having an asthma flare up and the relationship between sleep apnea and asthma.
Dr. James received the Top Doctor Award in Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine on Staten Island 2017 and in Brooklyn 2018. She is an active member of the Pediatric Pulmonology Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. As an Associate Professor of the Pediatrics, at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/North well Dr. James is very active with the education of both Residents and Students.
