While the landscape is still primarily green, early signs of fall are beginning to appear! Even at mid-elevation areas like Cades Cove, if you look closely, you can spot maple, dogwood, and Virginia creeper begin to turn red. Keep in mind that the Smokies in October generally has high visitation, with increased traffic and congestion, especially on weekends between 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please be patient and plan ahead for your next trip to the park! UPDATE on our New Year's Eve Celebration!
As we look forward to ringing in the New Year on December 31 with our midnight fireworks celebration at The Island, unfortunately the outdoor concert has been cancelled.
Our rides, retail and dining establishments will operate as scheduled, including the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel - so we invite you to bring your family and enjoy spending quality time together at The Island before the fireworks go off at midnight!
We've also partnered with WIVK/107.7 FM to simulcast the fireworks celebration, making it possible for you to enjoy the festivities from the safety of your vehicle. Free parking is available in the city’s 1,600-space Municipal Lot (located between The Island and the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge) and the 2,148-space Mountain Lot (2989 Teaster Lane).
The Island in Pigeon Forge will be open on Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. to midnight, and we look forward to celebrating with you as we ring in the New Year! Join us on New Year's Eve for a day of family fun and incredible fireworks, and let's kick off 2021 with a bang!
