It’s important to take time to reflect and remember about the tragic events that occured 19 years ago today. The innocent lives that were lost and the heroes that responded in seconds to save as many people as possible.
I was only 8 when it happened and I remember getting up to find my mom glued to the news coverage on our telly. I thought I understood at the time how tragic it was, but it wasn’t until I got to school and saw a classmate deviated from worry and fear over her dad’s life. He had gone to NYC on a work trip and was scheduled to be at the twin towers that morning. I remember being so grateful in that moment my family was safe and I knew where they were. Thankfully, my classmate later found out that her father's meeting had been pushed back and he was safe at his hotel. A simple time change had saved his life.
So be grateful today for the safety of those you love and for those who serve or have family that serve as firefighters, first responders, medical staff, police officers or military, we want to say thank you. Thank you for putting your lives in danger every day to save and protect the rest of us. It’s because of you as many people survived the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We are forever grateful
