Dr. Diaz-Garcia received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, graduating with honors. He then commenced his post-graduate training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Michigan Health System. He relocated to the city of Pittsburgh to complete a Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a fellow, he developed his interests in reconstruction of complex hand/wrist/elbow trauma and injuries in high-level athletes, helping to care for the city’s professional athletes alongside his mentors.
Dr. Diaz-Garcia has authored articles in journals such as the Journal of Hand Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and book chapters in texts of orthopedic surgery and plastic surgery. His clinical interests include general plastic surgery, fractures of the upper extremity, wrist/elbow reconstruction, arthroscopic surgery of the wrist and elbow, nerve injury, extremity salvage with microsurgery and minimally-invasive surgery.
Dr. Diaz-Garcia is on staff at Allegheny General Hospital, Forbes Hospital and West Penn Hospital and sees patients of all ages.
