“At the root of this dilemma is the way we view mental health in this country. When it comes to mental health conditions, we often treat them differently from other diseases like cancer, diabetes or asthma. And that makes no sense. Whether an illness affects your heart, your leg or your brain, it’s still an illness, and there should be no distinction.“ -Michelle Obama No one should have to feel ashamed about their mental health! Mindful is proud to fight the stigmas around talking about mental illness and seeking treatment for it. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #nyctherapist #mentalhealthquotes

It can be hard to feel appreciative when life is hard, but it’s more important than ever to practice gratitude during challenging times. Saying “thank you” is obviously polite, but gratitude can also positively influence your mental health. Some potential benefits to practicing gratitude are enhanced self-esteem, reduced stress, improved sleep, and better physical and psychological health (Psychology Today). #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #nyctherapist #mentalhealthtips

It is okay if you are experiencing some uncertainty because traditions and festivities look different this year. Whether you are excited for the holidays or a little intimidated (or both!), don’t forget to set aside some time to take care of yourself. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #nyctherapist #mentalhealthtips

“Perhaps the path to healing begins with three simple words: Are you OK?” - Meghan Markle This year has been full of unexpected stressors, changes, and challenges. Consider taking some time to reflect on your feelings and, if you are able to and comfortable doing so, have some open discussion with your loved ones about how you all are doing. We don’t always realize how much we can benefit from processing our emotions out loud or what the other people in our life may need to say until we give ourselves the opportunity to talk to one another. Hearing “are you ok?” can make all the difference. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #nyctherapist #mentalhealthquotes #mentalhealthtips
Don’t be ashamed of saying no! Setting boundaries can help your mental (and in some cases physical) health. If you are feeling overwhelmed in a particular area of life, ask yourself if you may benefit from setting a boundary. Maybe that looks like limiting your technology use, reducing time spent on a certain activity, or giving yourself more personal space. Particularly around the holidays, it can be easy to feel pressured to follow along with what other people want you to do, but your own needs are also important! There is nothing wrong with doing what you need to do in order to take care of yourself. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #nyctherapist #mentalhealthtips
You can participate in MindFit Group Therapy from wherever you are! Groups meet virtually for one hour per week. It’s okay if the holidays aren’t perfect and if they aren’t just like they were last year. Setting realistic expectations and being kind to yourself and others may help you be able to enjoy the holidays more. (List adapted from Mayo Clinic. Around 11% of children and teenagers and 4% of adults live with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The team at Mindful Urgent Care most often diagnoses and treats children and adolescents with ADHD, although many adults also struggle with ADHD symptoms. ADHD symptoms are slightly different in adults than in children. For example, most adults with ADHD don’t display the hyperactivity that’s common in younger patients. However, as an adult, you may struggle with attentiveness, decisiveness, and impulse control. Got a case of the Monday blues? The start of the week is sometimes intimidating after a relaxing weekend, but new weeks can offer us the chance to start fresh. If you find yourself consistently sad or anxious at the beginning of your week, try to identify the problem. Consider writing down your feelings and talking about them. One way to cheer yourself up could be to plan on doing something fun after work (like watching a movie or calling a friend). You can also try to have fun at work by catching up with a co-worker over lunch or leaving someone a nice note. Finally, make sure to set work aside as much as possible over the weekend to avoid burnout. Let us know in the comments if you have any other tips! 💙 #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #nyctherapist #mentalhealthtips
