I remember one of the first banquets I convinced to try out a charcuterie board paring. My mentor Rosemarie was like DO IT! We ate all the ingredients LOL. It was in 2015! I was an employee at DiCicco’s. But back then for some reason me and Rosemarie called it “antipasto”. I just love flash backs ♥️ (remember Paul kept yelling at us for taking all the salami from the pizza section and olives🍈) that’s where my charcuterie idea began! All because of a small mom n pop restaurant in Maine sparked that interest!

Congrats to one of my favorites, Stephanie Dietz, for becoming the next Merced City Manager this evening.
Stephanie has been our assistant city manager since 2017 and the interim city manager since the summer. She has impressed all us since Day 1 with her intelligence, dedication, her drive and passion for our city. A no-nonsense get-stuff-done ag girl and a self-described total nerd -- hard to imagine a better combination for my money!
This photo of us below was taken after the council meeting tonight -- a few hours after her appointment and weeks before my mayoral term even begins. Check back with us in a few years to see how much older we both look!!
Stephanie joins our City Attorney, Phaedra Norton, and our Finance Officer, Venus Rodriguez, as the only three City of Merced "charter officers" that the City Council directly appoints.
In the council-manager form of government used by 90+% of California cities, including Merced, the City Manager is the city's chief executive officer, responsible for overseeing its daily operations, hiring and firing almost all department heads, and implementing the direction of the elected City Council.
