Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Yesterday at 1:27 PM · ❄️🚗 When winter weather occurs, we ask that drivers be extra cautious around snow-removal equipment. If you encounter a plow truck: ➡️ Stay at least six car lengths behind an operating plow truck. Remember, the main plow is wider than the truck. ➡️ Be alert. Plow trucks generally travel much more slowly than other traffic. ➡️ When a plow truck is traveling toward you, move as far away from the center of the road as is safely possible. Remember, snow can obscure the actual snow plow width. ➡️ Never try to pass or get between several trucks plowing side by side in a "plow train." The weight of the snow thrown from the plow can quickly cause smaller vehicles to lose control, creating a hazard for nearby vehicles. ➡️ Never travel next to a plow truck. There are blind spots where the operator can't see and the trucks can occasionally be moved sideways when hitting drifts or heavy snowpack. ➡️ Keep your lights on to help the operator better see your vehicle. Also remember that under Pennsylvania state law, vehicle lights must be on every time a vehicle's wipers are on due to inclement weather. While we appreciate these trouble makers, here is a fun fact! ⚡️⚡️ Squirrels account for 11% of power outages annually ⚡️⚡️ Pennsylvania Game Commission January 21 at 1:30 PM · It is National Squirrel Appreciation Day! Can you name all of Pennsylvania’s squirrel species? Pennsylvania is home to five species of squirrels, which includes the gray squirrel, red squirrel, fox squirrel, northern flying squirrel and southern flying squirrel. Squirrels are fast and agile rodents, that can scale trees and jump from treetop to treetop with great speed using their tails to keep balanced. Squirrels prefer to live in forested areas, out of the two main types of forests found in Pennsylvania, oak-hickory forests are better squirrel habitat because it has a greater variety of vegetation. To attract squirrels, woods should contain many mature mast-producing trees, a mixture of other tree and shrub species to provide seasonal food variety, natural den trees and hollow tree cavities for escape purposes. You can learn more about each of Pennsylvania’s squirrel species here ➡ https://bit.ly/363K7kS.
If you’re looking for convenient cooking methods with the added bonus of energy efficiency, here are two electrifying appliances for your kitchen: 1. Air fryers are becoming increasingly popular, and consumers have a lot of good things to say about these handy little appliances. Air fryers use convection to circulate hot air and cook the food––this means little to no oil is required, resulting in healthier meals than those from traditional fryers. 2. Electric griddles have certainly been around for a while, and they consume small amounts of energy and provide quick cooking times, so your energy bill will thank you.

🌡Does this cold weather have you tempted to plug in a space heater, or two? The average space heater cost $2.11 per day...which doesn't sound that bad. 🛑BUT, two space heaters running for one month adds appx $126 to your current electric bill.
