RAM Law attorneys Matt Bonanno and Jay Mascolo obtain 43rd highest personal injury verdict and 53rd highest total verdict in 2019 in New Jersey
The RAM Law clients were a 70 year old Monmouth County resident, who was struck by an elderly driver while walking in the Wegman’s parking lot in Marlboro, New Jersey and his wife. The defendant claimed she was blinded by sun glare and did not see the Plaintiff. As a result of the crash, Plaintiff suffered injuries herniated discs in his neck and back, and a meniscal tear in his knee. Plaintiff underwent a lumbar discectomy, which afforded no relief. He therefore had to undergo a revision lumbar discectomy. Due to the Plaintiff’s age, the defense argued that many of his problems were due to preexisting age-related changes. The defendant argued that the plaintiff had spinal degeneration and suffered, at most, an aggravation of a preexisting condition. The defendant also pointed to the fact that the plaintiff had a prior ACL reconstruction.
The matter was submitted to non-binding arbitration, which resulted in an arbitration award of $325,000, which was rejected by RAM Law and their client. Thereafter, the matter was listed for trial. Prior to trial, the defense offered $250,000.
Plaintiff filed pre-trial motions with the Court, which were granted, finding that the Defendant was solely responsible for the crash and that Plaintiff suffered a permanent injury in the crash. The only issue before the jury was the fair and reasonable value of the Plaintiff’s injuries. The jury found in favor of the plaintiffs and awarded the plaintiff $300,000 for the Plaintiff’s pain and suffering and $200,000 for his wife, for her per quod claim. The total verdict was $500,000 plus pre-judgment interest, for a total of $530,267.11.

RAM Law vs. LG Chem Ltd., Round 2!
RAM Law’s Craig Aronow & Rachel Holt defeat LG’s attempt to have court overturn it’s prior decision to not dismiss RAM Law’s lawsuit against LG. For the second time, the court agreed with RAM Law’s position and held that the court’s finding that LG, an international company known for manufacturing electronics and appliances, can be sued in the State of New Jersey for injuries caused by their exploding batteries. The Court found that its prior decision was correct and that the RAM Law client’s suit will move forward in New Jersey’s Superior Court. #ramlaw #njlawyerlife #lawyerlife #personalinjury #justice #advocate
