North Carolina is a no-fault divorce state. This means that the only “grounds” for a divorce is that one or both spouses wish to end their marriage.
Other requirements to get a NC divorce include:
⚖️ The couple has lived separately and apart for at least one year.
⚖️ The separation was intended to be permanent.
⚖️ One of the spouses has been a North Carolina resident for at least six months.
