re.dwell is a full-service design and fabrication shop that specializes in the use of reclaimed wood in custom furniture & spaces for residential and commercial clients. While we are based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, we have shipped and installed our work in more than 30 states, collaborating with other local companies when needed to meet your unique needs. You can find our work in homes, offices large and small, state and national parks, retail stores, coffee shops, yoga studios, restaurants, and bars.

Just goes to show you never know what you're going get when working with barn wood. Turned out this one was old growth poplar. This image doesn't even come close to capture how green this is. The board to the right is beech for comparison.
First batch of serving boards out the door for a local restaurant. We're talking pre-orders now for the next batch of 12"x16" boards, ready late October. It's never too early to start thinking about holiday gifts ideas!
So why is sassafras not the state tree of Michigan?
The team knocked it out of the park with this one. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out and neither could the client. 144" x 84" mixed species Chevron with a chocolate finish.
It doesn't get much better than fall in Northern Michigan.

Loving this side table we have dubbed "Aurora" Doing a limited run. Maple cookie with translucent epoxy filled center. Battery powered LED lights (also can be motion activated) make it a great nightlight or for lighting up a hallway at night. My son carried off this one to his bedroom for a nightlight so guess we better get started on the rest.

A fun rainy Friday project. These were saved when re.dwell was just getting started. They are from the Shoreline Inn in Muskegon, Michigan while it was being renovated. We managed to save the "S", "I" and "h" , but the rest had been ruined. We retro fitted these with LED replacing the broken out neon. DM for inquiries.

It's been a busy fall getting a bunch of different projects together. We installed this reception station the other day at Pro Am Collision's new space here in town. We've enjoyed all the local installations lately with a few more to go this year. A couple are on their way to Los Angeles and Oakland, California. Projects going to the Detroit,l area, Georgia, Delaware, and Iowa are coming up as well. Look forward to sharing more with you.

The new Wonderland Tire Company facility opens Monday. We were honored to be asked to be a part of their new building again after being part of their new corporate office last year. You can sit and work or charge your devices while you watch them work on your vehicle. Looking forward to watching them put new tires on the truck Monday.

A customer came to us asking if we could turn a beautiful old sycamore slab they had into a corner peninsula with a 12" drop leaf. We said, "No problem," unsure how it would turn out. "The table is beyond what I imagined. I love it." Is a good reaction not know how it would be received.

Calibrating the sander using set-up blocks my Grandfather made back in his tool and die days. I have a few generations' tools around shop we still use and I think of those people everytime I pick up their tool. Bonus: We have the same initials.

In true re.dwell fashion we recycled a desk we had built for a client in New York to fit their new space across Manhattan. We built new panels to fit the steel countertops of the existing desk, reconfiguring the parts to make the new desk.

A fun addition to a basement hangout. This was built in our shop and assembled in the space in a couple sections. The wood is reclaimed maple and beech factory flooring and a stain. TV will get mounted above the mantle.
A beautiful round maple table also finished in chocolate to a beautiful Eastown home. Love those chairs.
