We apologize for this somewhat long post, but it has important information about some changes at Redwood: We are posting today to share some updates in our COVID-19 safety procedures. Recently our community has experienced a substantial surge in COVID-19 case numbers as well as hospitalizations. This has motivated us to review and revise some of our COVID-19 safety protocols. Our sincere hope is that these updates will allow us to continue to offer high quality healthcare services to your pet, and at the same time keep you, your family, our Staff and their families safe going forward. Please read this message carefully as it applies to all of our clients when visiting the hospital. As always, do not hesitate to call us at (707) 553-1400 if you have any questions. ** THIS IS NEW! In an effort to reduce the need for clients to come into the reception area to complete necessary forms (Client account information, Pet medical history/medical concerns, consents/releases, etc.), we have expanded our "Forms Page" on our website. All clients, both new and established, should understand that each time you bring your pet to the hospital there is a brief form we'd like you to complete about your upcoming visit. Again, as much as we'd prefer to meet with you in person, we hope this change will reduce COVID-19 risks by limiting the face-to-face communication, the principal route of spread for the virus that causes COVID-19. Additionally, these forms may very well save you time during your visit. So please don't forget, before every visit to the hospital with your pet, go to www.Redwoodvet.com and click on the green "Links and Forms" tab near the top of the homepage to access and complete these helpful forms and submit them online. **THIS IS NEW! Effective Monday December 7, 2020, our Curb-side Care protocols will transition to "Porch-side Care". When you arrive at the hospital with your pet, as before, please call us at (707) 553-1400 to check in. When it is time for your pet to come into the hospital we will call/text you and instead of coming to your car to pick up your pet, the nurse will meet you at the hospital front porch to safely transfer your pet into the hospital. Face masks securely covering the mouth and nose must be worn during these transfers. We then ask that you return to the comfort and safety of your car-please DO NOT wait on the porch. The Doctor/nurse will subsequently communicate with you over the phone about your pet's healthcare and arrange when the nurse will meet you at the front porch to return your pet to you. For all patient discharges, whether for inpatient or outpatient care, we will again meet you at the front porch with your pet instead of bringing your pet to the car. Face masks securely covering the nose and mouth must be worn during these transfers. If you have left your pet with us for the day, please call us at (707) 553-1400 when you arrive for pick up to let us know you are here. **THIS IS NOT NEW, BUT STILL VERY IMPORTANT! As always, we ask that you maintain social distance (>6 feet) with staff and other clients as much as possible and wear a face mask that securely covers the mouth and nose during these transfers and with any communication that ensues. Dogs should be on secure leashes and cats, exotic small mammals, birds and reptile patients should ALWAYS be in a secure pet carrier. Carriers may also be appropriate for very small dogs. In general, client communication with receptionists, nurses and doctors should be over the phone whenever possible. If/When there is a need for a client to enter the reception area, we will continue to limit ONLY 1 PERSON IN THE LOBBY AT ANY TIME. Again, our mask policy remains unchanged: Face masks securely worn over the mouth and nose are mandatory at all times inside the building. Additionally, masks are mandatory outdoors whenever clients are within 6 feet of Staff or other clients. _______________________________ All of us at Redwood Veterinary Hospital recongnize how the COVID-19 pandemic has brought innumerable challenges on so many levels to you and your family. At the same time, we appreciate that the unwavering companionship, loyalty and love we receive from our animal family members is one small bright spot during these unprecedented times. We promise, despite the challenges, to do our best to keep your pets healthy. REDWOODVET.COM Vallejo CA Veterinarians | Redwood Veterinary Hospital, Vallejo CA
