Today is Porfie's 14 year work anniversary.

Just a reminder that Old Man Winter is bearing down on us this weekend. Here's a good example of how to protect your plumbing fixtures that are on outside walls.
An arctic cold front is on the way this weekend. Beginning Friday night this will be the coldest 5 nights in a row we've seen so far this winter. The good news is the forecast shows that we will warm above freezing each day. To avoid costly repairs please take precaution to prevent plumbing problems
- All exposed PVC pipes should be insulated and taped.
- If you have an irrigation system, turn it off for the duration
- Protect your hose bibs by either wrapping them or installing a Styrofoam cover made just for hose bibs
- If your kitchen sink or lavatory is on an outside wall, drip the faucet and open the cabinet below.
- Get a heat lamp with thermostat control for your pump house
- Disconnect garden hoses from outside hose bibs
- Don't leave your garage door open. If your water heater is in the garage an open or cracked garage door will let cold, freezing air into your garage
In the event of a freeze, there's not much a plumber can do until things begin to thaw.
We've had issues with our phone system all week due to the 100 year freeze. Thankfully today, those issues have been corrected.

Reeh Plumbing has been back at work since last Wednesday. Our computers were restored at the end of the day Friday. And we are working through the weekend. As you can imagine the demand for our services is through the roof.
Our priority is to deal with busted pipes and customers with no water. We understand the frustration level is high and we are doing the best we can to work quickly and safely. We have employees working who also have no water or electricity in their homes. Please bear with us. If you need a plumber please call 830.997.0020 and we will add you to our service list.

Day 8 update:
We are REALLY busy.
As power is restored throughout our service area and water wells come back online, our call volume has increased. Be assured we continue to work as quickly and safely as we can.
We had a great staff meeting this morning and morale is high. Many of you have taken the time to email, Face Book, Google or call your thanks for our services. We appreciate the "atta boys."
We will be working Saturday. Please bear with us.

Update: Day 16
Yesterday was Hump Day Wednesday but more importantly it was HUMP DAAYYYYYYYY! for Reeh Plumbing.
For the first time since the catastrophic freeze we are completing more water restoration jobs than we have new calls coming in.
There are still over 900 residents in Gillespie county without electricity and they will need plumbing services as soon as power is restored.
I want to say thank you to those of you who have called in with a leaking toilet or drippy faucets for understanding that we are not able to schedule general service calls at this time. Right now it looks like another 2-3 weeks before we can guarantee an appointment time for general plumbing services.
And BIG THANK YOU also to our Reeh Plumbing Team. They are tired but they are still smiling! Great job team.
Update: Day 14
It's been challenging but we've been able to keep our head above water. As electricity is still being turned on across our service area, new calls for busted pipes and no water to their home are coming in daily.
Our priority is to service occupied homes that are without water first.
If you need a service call for a leaking toilet or garbage disposal or the like, please bear with us. It looks like it will be at least 2 weeks before we can schedule service appointments.

And on the 25th day... we rested.

We're still looking for that faint spot of light at the end of the tunnel... The number of people still without water since the catastrophic freeze is hard to believe. Those customers, along with our VIP customers remain our priority.
In the meantime, normal service calls continue to come in and for many of them, we are still 6-8 weeks out. For the most part those requesting service unrelated to the freeze have been understanding and have told us to take care of those without water first. We really appreciate that. There have been a few that were upset with the delay... bless their hearts.
To all that are waiting for service, thank you for your patience and understanding. We continue to work as quickly and safely as possible,

Daddy uses the hall bathroom, sees a glass of soapy water by the sink, tosses soapy mix into toilet, FLUSH.
Mom comes home from a dentist appointment, heads straight to hall bathroom and is immediately frantic upon exiting the bathroom.
Turns out, that little cup was full of soapy jewelry cleaning solution... Padre flushed moms Diamond Rings and earrings down the toilet. ☠️
I knew this was a job for the big boys... so naturally I called Reeh Plumbing.
Fast Forward to 11am today...
2 plumbers
1 camera snake
2 shovels
1 wire
40+ft of pipes
Tremendous Teamwork
Brian and Jamie have recovered the jewelry. ALL OF IT.

There it is.... can you see it? There's a faint light at the end of the catastrophic freeze tunnel.
We're still working freeze breaks and trying to replace tankless water heaters whenever we finally receive shipment but overall, water has been restored and now we're working to catch up on the backlog of "normal" service calls.
