Black History Month Fun Fact!
Dr. Robert C. Weaver supported and helped lobby for the 1962 Senior Citizens Housing Act and served as the first United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He was the first Black State Cabinet member in New York where he served as the Rent Commissioner. Weaver was also the Vice-Chair of the NY Housing and Redevelopment Board, authored the 1961 Compilation Bill, and served in the administration of President John F. Kennedy.
