About

Carolyn Kaplan, MD, is a reproductive endocrinologist who has more than 25 years of experience helping infertile couples and improving women’s health. As the owner of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Group in Atlanta, Dr. Kaplan adopts a hands-on approach, performing ultrasounds and other diagnostics herself to ensure continuity of care, and placing the welfare of her patients first.
Dr. Kaplan began her career in 1979, studying for her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. After graduating, she completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology. She developed her skills and experience as a member of medical staff at hospitals in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, California, earning her the role of director of in vitro fertilization at the Emory University School of Medicine Center for Reproductive Medicine and Fertility in Atlanta, and Georgia Reproductive Specialists, also in Atlanta. She was also the in-house reproductive endocrinologist for 4 years at Women’s Medical Group in Santa Monica, California.
Dr. Kaplan built on her appointment as assistant clinical professor at UCLA School of Medicine in 1990 and currently holds the position of assistant clinical professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta. She received certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1990, and the ABOG Division of Reproductive Endocrinology in 1992, and maintains her status as a certified practitioner with annual recertification.
Dr. Kaplan has run Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Group since 2015, building up an outstanding reputation as an expert in the field of reproductive endocrinology. She gives presentations regularly to patient groups and is author or co-author of a number of research papers published in prestigious medical journals. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an active member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinologists, Society for Reproductive Immunology, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Medical Women's Association, American Medical Association, and the Georgia OB-GYN Society.
At Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Group, Dr. Kaplan delivers exceptional fertility and gynecological services, and also offers the most comprehensive range of effective treatments for LGBTQ couples and individuals looking to start a family.

Update from Piedmont: People who want to get pregnant in the future may receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Based on current knowledge, experts believe that COVID-19 vaccines are unlikely to pose a risk to a person trying to become pregnant in the short or long term. Scientists study every vaccine carefully for side effects immediately and for years afterward. The COVID-19 vaccines are being studied carefully now and will continue to be studied for many years, similar to other vaccines. The COVID-19 vaccine, like other vaccines, works by training our bodies to develop antibodies to fight against the virus that causes COVID-19, to prevent future illness. There is currently no evidence that antibodies formed from COVID-19 vaccination cause any problems with pregnancy, including the development of the placenta. In addition, there is no evidence suggesting that fertility problems are a side effect of ANY vaccine. People who are trying to become pregnant now or who plan to try in the future may receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them.
