About

Transfer stations are an intermediate collection location for local waste trucks prior to the shipment of waste to regional landfills. This helps us to minimize the environmental impact of the transportation of waste. There are over 200 regional transfer stations that serve as waste receiving and distribution centers for residential, business and community customers. View the location details to learn more about the transfer station in your area, such as material drop-off instructions and hours.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our charitable foundation is finding innovative ways to support neighborhood revitalization efforts across the country through its National Neighborhood Promise program. In Houston, Avenue Community Development Corp. received one of 24 grants awarded this year and is working to revitalize eight schools in the Northline neighborhood. When it’s safe to return to in-person schooling, students will be welcomed by new landscaping, outdoor learning spaces with a pergola and tables, and a Monarch butterfly habitat, as well as lessons in recycling and recyclable art. Driver Justin J. has been described as an angel and a hero by a resident in Wilmington, Delaware who he saved from a house fire. On his route, Justin noticed a house on fire. The homeowner was in her back sunroom and had no idea. Justin slammed on his horn and didn’t let up until the homeowner ran to the front door. Realizing her garage was engulfed in flames, she quickly ran back into the house to grab her dog, and they both made it out safely. Justin called 911 and used his fire extinguisher to settle down the flames until firefighters rushed to the scene. More than that, he stayed with the homeowner to provide comfort until a friend arrived. “I want you to know how truly blessed I feel that you were there for me on that horrifying day," the homeowner said. "You will remain my hero!” Thanks Justin for being a Republic Services Rockstar!

Behind the wheel of a 25-ton truck, Republic drivers routinely face obstacles and one of their biggest challenges is avoiding distracted drivers. To avoid potential incidents, we piloted a safety program using beacons on our trucks to notify other drivers using the Waze traffic app that a slow-moving Republic vehicle was nearby. Over 130,000 notifications alerted drivers of a Republic truck location during last year's test run, which allowed those drivers to reroute and avoid our trucks entirely.
