For those of you struggling with feeling like you're not doing enough, that your work won't pay off, that you're incompetent or incapable Major vulnerability moment here As many of you know I am pumping out content, doing 6 week private practice building courses for therapists, and seeing my own individual therapy clients. Very often I feel like I'm not doing enough. That all of this work is for nothing. That I want to give up and quit. These feelings can really come over you when you're growing. When you're putting yourself out there and creating vulnerability caused by being seen or discovered. It can really create feelings of impostor syndrome and this level of shameful fraudulent mentality. This is usually a sign that you/I really need some self compassion, some grounding work, and to take a step away for a bit. As helping professionals we typically give parts of ourselves away. We're absorbing a lot of emotion and vulnerability, vicarious trauma, heavy thoughts and feelings. We tend to struggle with insecurities, anxiety, and not feeling good enough. I hope you all know that you're worthy. That your effort isn't going unseen. That you're working towards creating something for yourselves and that takes courage and commitment. Be kind to yourself. Really try to incorporate some self care this weekend. Set some intentions that aren't work related. Fill your cup back up so that you can continue to create and support and heal.
Dr. Daniel Amen September 18 at 1:39 PM · The good news is that if your brain is stuck—either in overdrive or off—you can get it unstuck. And there are many natural ways to help you do it. If your emotional brain seems to be stuck in overdrive, you can calm it with the following: meditation prayer hypnosis scents, like lavender supplements, such as GABA, magnesium, or theanine EMDR (a psychotherapeutic technique) If you feel shut down, you can activate your brain with: physical exercise upbeat music scents, such as peppermint or eucalyptus or stimulating supplements, such as rhodiola, green tea, or L-tyrosine neurofeedback (a non-invasive, medication-free treatment) When your brain gets unstuck, you’ll be able to move beyond past emotional trauma and feel happier, more motivated, and more at peace.

October is mental health month. Please feel free to leave a comment or share a story of how you take care of your own mental health while also being a helper. I know that I struggle with anxiety, complex PTSD, ADHD, and ocd like traits. Managing my mental health is crucial when it comes to balancing my entire life, both professionally and personally. Without my own therapy and years of mental health and addictions recovery, I would not be capable of working as a licensed mental health and addictions therapist. We need to be able to talk about these things without shame or stigma. All of you matter. And I know this year has been unbelievably challenging to say the least, and that's an understatement. Take care of yourselves and talk about your mental health. Let's reduce the stigma together
