Divorce Mediation
As your mediator, I can help you move through the issues and find new ground for resolution. I won’t take sides with you against your spouse, or with your spouse against you. Instead, I will work with you to increase your understanding of each other and of your conflict. I will not make decisions for you only you will decide what is best for your future. Conflict is painful. Most people have the drive to resolve it. When people understand the sources of conflict, there is a huge release of creative energy which leads to terrific brainstorming sessions about how to solve the problem and end the conflict. Once all the issues are on the table, we can begin to delve deeper into different points to gain an increased understanding. When that understanding is there, problem solving begins. As you and your spouse agree, I will begin to draft an Agreement reflecting your discussions.
Collaborative Divorce
In Collaborative Law you are represented by an attorney for a peaceful negotiation which maximizes the benefit to the family. You will use interest-based negotiation, which is the same technique used in mediation, but you will have an attorney by your side. Your attorney will guide you, advise you and speak for you when necessary. In Collaborative Law cases, the attorneys agree that they won’t resort to the courts. The attorneys will assist you to generate a wide range of possibilities for solutions to all the problems facing your family, so that when you enter into an agreement you will have taken the time and weighed all your options to make sure that it is the best possible agreement for your family.
Parenting Mediation
As your mediator, I can help you move through the issues and find new ground for resolution. I won’t take sides with you against your child’s other parent, or vice versa. Instead, I will work with both of you to focus on the best interests and needs of your child, and increase your understanding of the conflict. Once all the issues are on the table, we can begin to delve deeper into different points to gain an increased understanding. When that understanding is there, problem solving begins. As you and your spouse agree, I can draft an Agreement reflecting your discussions.
Prenuptial Mediation
We will discuss the goals you have for a prenup, and make sure the agreement we come to achieves those goals. I won’t take sides with you against your fiance, or with your fiance against you. Instead, I will work with you both to increase your understanding of each other and of your hopes, dreams and plans for your life together, and create a safe space for you to talk about your values and what you each feel makes sense, and is fair, for how you will share expenses, responsibilities, debt and savings in the future. I will not make decisions for you, only you can decide what will work for the two of you. Once all the issues are on the table, we can begin to delve deeper into different points to gain an increased understanding and discuss different options. When that understanding is there, problem solving begins. As you and your fiance agree, I will begin to draft an Agreement reflecting your discussions.
Parenting Coordination
The goals of Parenting Coordination are two-fold: first, to help you to figure out ways to work more smoothly with your ex; and second, to help to keep you out of the courts, in order to preserve your assets, and to try to lower everyone’s stress. First, we will meet individually. I will ask you to tell me about the history of your children, your family, as well as ask you to brainstorm about what kinds of things have and have not worked in the past, and what your ideas are about how to approach your ex, going forward. I will want to understand your unique circumstances, the terms of your stipulation or court order, and the history of your family and your conflicts. We will help you to negotiate minor changes to scheduled parenting time, whether on an on-going basis, or for one time occurrences such as vacations, special events or unforeseen circumstances that arise from time to time, and to help you to smoothly implement your parenting plan. We will not focus on issues, nor make decisions outside of this scope. We also cannot make decisions which impact religion or relocation. As your Parenting Coordinator, I will be available as needed.
