The cooler temps have arrived! Is your plumbing system ready? Here are some tips to help prevent issues during the freezing temps that will be coming:
- Disconnect all hoses from the hose faucets
- If a hose faucet is leaking, have it replaced.
- Inspect your sump pump for proper operation and the discharge line. Disconnect the discharge line when it gets close to freezing so the pump does not burn out.
- Any water lines that are on an outside wall or colder area (basements) should be insulated and/or ensure that warm air can reach those lines.
These are all things to prevent water lines from bursting when it gets to freezing and your pumps from failing. If you have questions or concerns about anything - please call us! We are always ready to help!

Woooweee! It has been a minute since we posted. Things have been busy and we have been working to fix plumbing issues as quick as possible!
Here is a beautiful repair of a sheared main sewer line that went through the foundation. This work required excavation, removal of the broken sewer, installation of the new piping with adding in an outside access cleanout, proper bedding of the pipie, hydro cement the penetration of the foundation, inspection and backfilling.
Still with all those steps it sounds simple, but there is always code to follow and many other items to complete along the way.
Our team works together as a well oiled machine to ensure it is done completed in a timely manor with as little disruption to our clients as possible. Well done!

Sometimes it is nice to receive a little surprise right?!
Grace decided to take our coozies, stress toilet (buried in the bottom) and chocolate and make one for each of the guys.
Each one of them has been working crazy hard and has really pulled together as a team!
A small gesture made each guy smile and hopefully feel some extra appreciation!
Have you ever noticed your copper water lines getting patinaed (turning green/blue)? If so that means there is moisture in the area or you have leak.
Sometimes it is hard to notice a leak, especially if the water does not pool and is running along the pipe through walls and/or floors.
If you notice this color on your pipes, keep an eye on it, see if the area is especially humid, or if you start noticing a water leak.

We have all done it - little bit here, little bit there (glancing over our shoulder to make sure no one is looking while we do the unthinkable).... Yes, I am talking about pouring grease down the drain.
Occasionally it happens, but if you can avoid it, please do! Grease hardens and will slow your drains down immensely. Many times if it is bad, the piping will need to be replaced as excessive grease is very difficult to remove from the lines.
So the next time you look over your shoulder, save yourself a future headache and dump it in the trash.

Here is a snowy reminder to check those discharge lines on the sump pumps!
Lots of snow can create a nice cozy spot for that water to sit and freeze, in turn causing your pump to work extra hard and burn out the motor since the water is not able to discharge from the pipe.

- Keep the heat on (60 ° or higher)
- Open cabinet/vanity doors that enclose plumbing
- Have pipes insulated properly
- Make sure all outdoor plumbing is shut off and not leaking
