1.) Make sure you are using a skilled and experienced practitioner👩⚕️(Erica @scharke_arnp has been doing this since 2015, and continually is seeking to expand her knowledge and training).
2.) Protect your skin from too much sun☀️ (slather on that sunscreen!).
3.) Keep your skin strong with hydration, and use products 🧴with antioxidants, and collagen-stimulating ingredients.
4.) Work on those stress levels🤯! When stress leads to frowning and scowling, it puts pressure on those very muscles that Botox is trying to relax. Meditation, prayers, yoga are all ideas to help soothe an anxious mind.

This month marks the one year anniversary of Cedar Rapids Revive Aesthetics and Well-being. While we are proud to celebrate this milestone, we also are honoring and celebrating the life of our dear friend and receptionist, Amy Hird, who passed away this past week. While we had already been planning a gift giveaway, we decided to pay homage to Amy by not only having her favorite spa items in the baskets, but also giving our spa family and friends the opportunity to donate to benefit her family during this difficult time. We settled on three different gift baskets, and a few different ways to win.

With great sadness, we share that our Amy Hird passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 29th. We are grieving this loss within the circle of all who knew her. We were blessed to know Amy as a dear friend even before working at our clinic. She was a wife, a mother of seven children and one fur baby, and was a beautiful woman inside and out, with a huge heart and genuine care about every person she had contact with. Our love, thoughts, and prayers have been with her family during this difficult time.

People come in all the time wanting their nasolabial folds (the lines around your mouth) filled, and wonder why the cheeks need to be addressed first. Weeellll...if we went ahead and only injected around the mouth, this could be a similar result-lovely if you’re an ape, not so lovely on a human face! Bottom line? Let's talk deep wrinkles and 💉 with neuromodulators such as Botox, Dypsort or Jeuveau.
When we have deep lines, like the picture on the left, they will likely never fully disappear; just soften them. See the picture on the right.
Deep lines (also known as static lines) are lines that you can see when your face is at rest.
Things that create lines:

📍Sleeping 😴 on your side or stomach (Botox will not treat sleep lines)
It is important to realize that deep lines may never fully go away. The key thing is getting the right dose of product, product and consistency of receiving the product to prevent the lines from getting deeper. Getting injections once in a while or once a year is not going to achieve the goal of decreased lines long term.
It is also important to treat your lines from the surface to stimulate your collagen. Some ways are microneedling, chemical peels and lasers.
Consistency with injections, good skin care, skin care treatments and sunscreen on a daily basis, will help your prevent your lines from getting deeper.
