Dr. Brassington is originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Penn State University. He attended dental school at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV-VCU) where he received the Harry S. Lyons Award for graduating at the top of his class. Dr. Brassington continued his studies in general and hospital dentistry at the University of Virginia before entering private practice as a general dentist. He returned to MCV-VCU for his specialty training in Orthodontics and joined Richmond Orthodontics in 1994.
Dr. and Mrs. Brassington have been married for over 25 years and have three children, Kate, Lauren, and Matthew, and two four-legged family members, Trooper and Stella. In addition to his professional commitments including several years as a part-time clinical instructor at MCV, Dr. Brassington has coached over 30 seasons of youth sports and currently serves on the Trinity Episcopal School Board of Directors. He also loves music and plays bass guitar in a cover band.
Dr. Brassington’s current professional societies include the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Richmond Dental Society, and the Medical College of Virginia Orthodontic Foundation, where he is a past president. Dr. Brassington is also actively involved in several local dental study clubs.
