Winter Prep #4
It's not too early to think about winter wiper blades. These come equipped with rubber that keeps ice from collecting on the blades and on the hinges. They are also stronger and more durable to move snow/ice off of your windshield.
Winter Prep #3:
Maintain tire pressure. Every 10° change in ambient temperature could mean a gain or loss of 1 PSI. This means you should check pressure more regularly during fall and winter, even if your vehicle has an indicator light, to refill your tires as needed. Look for visual queues like the photo seen here.
Note: Appropriate pressure for your tires can be found on the tire placard in the driver’s side door jamb or in your vehicle owner’s manual.
Winter Prep #2:
The cooling system keeps your vehicle in its operating temperature range. It is recommended to maintain a ratio between 50/50 and 70/30 of antifreeze to water. Ask our experts at Ridgeway what antifreeze should be used for your vehicle and the appropriate coolant-to-water ratio to prevent against corrosion and potential freezing🥶
We also perform coolant flushes to remove rust and deposits from your cooling system. Look at the before and after!

Battery power decreases as the temperature drops, meaning that it takes more power to start your car in the winter. If your battery is already having problems, your risk of breaking down increases. It is recommended that your battery is at or above 600 CCA for optimal winter performance and Ridgeway can check to ensure your system is running at that👨🔧. I've always thought an engine replacement was the most amazing thing to watch! The heart of an automobile being removed and replaced with a working one or sometimes replaced with a performance one. These pictures show our ASE master technician separating the engine from the body through the bottom of the vehicle as he raises the lift up. So cool!!
While cold weather doesn’t necessarily hurt your brakes, a thorough inspection can ensure the best performance when driving this winter. And we at Ridgeway do brakes right!
Look at the "other guy's" brake job that we had to redo for a customer (before and after photos). Shortcuts are not an option when it comes to the safety of you and your vehicle. There is much more to a brake job than just slapping on new pads and sending it out the door.

Had a wonderful conversation with a long time customer that stems from the longhorn state! You can't see it in the photo but she was sporting a Texas Longhorn hat 🤘 along with a smile after getting her car serviced😄. She told me the story about how she couldn't find a reliable mechanic in western NY until she came to us. She has been with us for 16 years! That deserves some Hook'em Horns 🤘!!
Our company is looking for a Tow Truck Driver to join our fleet. A background in roadside assistance and experience loading and unloading a flatbed truck is preferred. Your primary duties will revolve around assisting disabled motorists with services such as changing their tires or transporting them to a nearby destination. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 2-3 years of experience, excellent interpersonal skills to interact with customers, can manage their time well while on the road, has a positive attitude.

CCA, MCA, PHCA and HCA are all ratings that measure the current of a battery to deliver power to crank an engine.
CCA (Cold Cranking Amperes) is the most popular industry rating and is a measurement of the current a fully charged battery can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain a voltage of 7.2 volts (12 volt battery) at a temperature of 0°F. ❄

Well, it took until the end of January to get a little bit of snow here in Rochester and it was slick this morning. Here is one vehicle we had to rescue after they lost control on the highway and came across the median into oncoming traffic. Fortunately there were no injuries.
Our drivers are ready 24 hours for any type of scenario. Stay safe on the roads everyone!
