If you or someone you know is suffering from colon cancer, you understand the toll it can take on a person’s daily life. What you might not know is that this disease is preventable; annual exams will increase the chances of catching and removing benign polyps or cysts before they turn cancerous. That’s why the members at Riding for a Reason in Granite City, IL, have formed this non-profit organization—to take their love for riding ATVs and use it to help increase colorectal cancer awareness and prevention. They also help raise money for families and friends with loved ones suffering from this devastating disease.
Their first event, held in 2015, was an overwhelming success for the non-profit organization; they raised over $17,000 with 600 people riding 237 bikes. This success encouraged them to continue the tradition of side-by-side ATV and UTV riding with their family, friends, and community members. In 2016, they raised over $60,000 with over 1,200 people riding 652 bikes.
The next celebration is going to be held on March 27 and 28 of 2020. Tickets will go on sale starting on December 31 for $55 per person—children under 12 years of age get in for free! Your ticket includes a T-shirt, goody bag, trail ride, and a chance to see one of their numerous concerts. Feel free to enter the raffle at $25 per ticket for a chance to win one of two customized buggies.
Gear up your ATVs and get ready for a rip-roaring time for a good cause at Riding for a Reason. While having the time of your life, you can feel good knowing that you’re contributing to raising awareness for colon cancer prevention.
