Pretty awesome article about the one trillion trees movement that is happening globally. "..The results, according to WRI (World Resources Institute) include the potential savings of up to 540 million tons of carbon dioxide that would otherwise end up in the atmosphere" You can also check out 1t.org for more information on what it is about and how you can help. 🌳 https://www.triplepundit.com/story/2020/us-companies-trillion-trees/125181 TRIPLEPUNDIT.COM U.S. Companies Line Up Behind the Trillion Trees Movement
In 2016, a canopy assessment and analysis was completed by the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management- Urban Forestry Program in partnership with the University of Arizona- School of Natural Resources and the Environment and Arizona's 29 recognized Tree Cities. The purpose of this assessment was to gather baseline information about community forests across Arizona that will inform future management decisions and project implementation. What is an Urban Forest? The entire collection of trees within an urban area(city, town, suburb) that provide environmental economic and social benefits Urban tree canopy cover provides benefits for the entire community by removing pollutants and carbon from the air and by reducing peak storm water flows. Trees also provide much needed shade and cooling effects in Arizona's hottest and driest communities. Here is the summary for Tucsons results! If you would like to know the results from one of the other 28 Tree Cities in Arizona, comment the city below!
The world can always use more trees and fall in Southern Arizona is a great time to plant! Who doesn't love trees that change color in fall before dropping their leaves?! Benefits to planting in the fall: *extra root growth *less chance for the trees to be stressed out by our extreme heat and drought *trees become more stable and able to deal with the following heat and drought seasons *less evaporation of soil moisture allowing the roots to absorb necessary water and less time watering *you can pick your trees by the fall colors they produce the following years Perfect deciduous (a tree that sheds its leaves each year) trees to pick for Tucson area: -Arizona Ash (turns yellow in fall) -Red Push Pistache (turns orange-red in fall) -Crape Myrtle (turns orange, golden and red)

We always love to hear when our work makes a client happy! Thank you for the pictures and the awesome review, Jeanmarie! 🌴 Good job crew👏 Jeanmarie Schiller-McGinnis December 21 at 10:01 PM · I'm having these palm trees trimmed and skinned today. Over 25 years of not removing the complete frond after trimming was a big mistake on my part. I trimmed them until they got too tall for my extension ladder, but it was a hassle to scrape 'em clean and I left it. Now it's hard work and makes a huge mess! Plus, it costs a whole lot more to do! However, it's healthier for the tree, less bees and mess, and looks nicer. I had trouble finding someone to even do it. However, these fellows from R.O. Landscape & Tree Service, LLC are doing a great job so far!

Yesterday Stan and Pete met with some folks from the Departmentof Foresty, Jacqueline Lyle and Nick Shipley to get the Aleppo Pine at Catalina United Methodist Church measured. We have been trimming and taking care of this beautiful tree since around 2006. We are happy to say that it will make the Champion Tree list! 167" circumference 83' tall 96' canopy spread Pictures below are from 1956 when it was just a wee little tree. In 2008, while we were trimming it then 65 years later Stan and Pete giving it a big hug! Last picture is from yesterday taken by Jacqueline of the whole Aleppo Tree! Happy Monday Folks!
Did you know? Willow bark on most types of Willow trees contains salicin, a compound similar to aspirin. Salicin is metabolized in the body to create salicylic acid, a precursor of aspirin. The herbal extract has long been used in native and folk medicine to relieve pain, from back pain to headaches, inflammation, and fever. In the late 1800s, chemists discovered a way to make a synthetic version of salicylic acid, called acetylsalicylic acid aka aspirin. Birch and poplar trees also contain salicylic acid.
