Capron and Bliss friends getting introduced into the engineering design process. This process we followed:
1: Define the problem: Using 25 toothpicks and 30 marshmallows, build a freestanding (without using hands as support) structure. The tallest and most creative structure will win a prize!
2: Brainstorm Ideas: They had 7-10 minutes designing their structure on a whiteboard.
They had 30 minutes to complete the next three steps.
3: Build: putting the marshmallows and toothpicks together to make the structure.
4: Test and analyze: Seeing if the structure can stand on its own. If it can't, they should ask themselves ”What went wrong?”
5: Improve: Using what they learned from their previous structure to make one that functions better!
The main portion I emphasized during this project was to keep trying!! Many times, engineers fail when designing new products, but they use the engineering design process as a way to help them learn from their mistakes, so they can create something that functions properly. As frustrating as it is, it takes many tries to get something right, and the children learned to keep trying and they all ended up with standing structures!

The children in Bliss Blvd. enjoyed a Zoom painting class with Ms. Marjorie. They enjoyed learning about different types of artist. They also watch a video on cartoon artist and Miss Marjorie ask them questions on what they saw on the video.
We love STEAM. Take a look at this Calendar for a month of fun filled activities!

A student assemble in sequence electrical circuits so it would show sound, light, and electricity. It plays holiday songs when lights up. What a great STEAM activity.
Children made their own catapults out of popsicle sticks, elastic bands, and a spoon. They challenge each other on how many candy corns they could get in the craved pumpkin. The one who got the most won a price. They were so excited and had lots of fun.
Students playing Osmo the racing game and challenging each other for points.
