This event in history from 1865 is little known and is honestly a new piece of information for myself although I personally believe it should have been marked in history in a large way at some point far before now. The civil war was an obviously big event in our country but there’s really nothing that reflects its conclusion or outcome that ended slavery and caused the loss of so many lives of all of our ancestors.
To me, this should be noted as one of the larger holidays on our calendar (after our Religious holidays and July 4 and Thanksgiving) after it has come to light. Knowledge and education are vital to our life on many fronts and I encourage us to understand this event and digest it.

Insurance tip of the week: leave water running from all your faucets when it is this cold. If your pipes freeze and burst: turn the water OFF at the main valve then wait for them to thaw and call a plumber. It’s NOT your insurance agents/company’s duty to stop your water leak or to fix the busted pipe. Don’t call your insurance company until you can assess the damages the water caused. If the water causes damage to your home, then you may have an insurance claim. I find many are confused on what insurance covers in this situation. Stay warm!
