This is a guidance document developed by the Department of Public Health to assist medical providers in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Patients who do not meet any of the below criteria for COVID-19 testing by IDPH laboratories should be managed as clinically indicated.
As of today, there are no tests available to traditional urgent/immediate care centers. Testing can either be done at the Illinois Department of Health laboratories or commercial clinical laboratories with special permission. In order to request the test, patients must have a telemedicine virtual visit with one of our providers so we can determine the appropriate course of action. Since IDPH labs have limited capacity to perform the testing, they will target it’s testing to higher priority specimens which would enable the higher-risk patients to be indemnified sooner, assist with the care of patients with more severe illness, and inform response efforts, including critical infection control disease.
If you are experiencing acute symptoms such as high fever or shortness of breath, call 911 immediately. If you think you might have COVID-19 and have mild or no symptoms, then book a Vitality and enter your symptoms (such as cough, fever, etc.) and a Vitality provider will carry out a remote virtual visit house call. A remote virtual house call is easily performed via secure video chat to help determine your risk level for COVID-19 and to provide needed resources for further care.
