Ronak Desai, MD, is an outstanding spinal surgeon who works tirelessly to help his patients regain lost mobility and ease the pain caused by back and neck problems. Dr. Desai practices at EmergeOrtho, with four offices in Raleigh, Apex, and Johnston County, North Carolina.
Dr. Desai graduated from Rush University in 2012 with a Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology, and a Medical Degree from Rush Medical College. He then undertook his orthopedic surgery residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, affiliated with Case Western Reserve University, and followed this with a fellowship in complex spine surgery at Houston Methodist/Texas Medical Center.
During his years of training, Dr. Desai spent time volunteering for health care outreach programs that provide support to people who are homeless or uninsured, a cause he cares about deeply. He also conducts research into spinal surgery with the aim of advancing medical knowledge in the field.
Dr. Desai has co-authored numerous research papers that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and regularly presents his findings at professional meetings and conferences. Dr. Desai is a recognized expert in his field and is an active member of the North American Spine Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
When he’s not devoting time to his patients or working on his research projects, Dr. Desai enjoys playing golf, hiking, biking, and reading. He’s also passionate about intramural cricket and is the founder of the Arrigo Park Cricket Club.
