Life is Like an Ever-changing Kaleidoscope-a Slight Change & All Patterns Alter.
For over 25 years, I have been helping individuals and couples successfully address their issues and concerns.
I graduated from Reed College with a BA in English, in retrospect a wonderful foundation for listening and coming to understand my clients' life stories. Following my BA, I received an MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching), also from Reed.
Some years later, I returned to Portland State University and earned a Master's degree in Social Work. I was a social worker in the heart of London before returning to Portland to begin my private practice.
Through respectful listening and a collaborative exploration, my goal is for us to work together to identify those patterns in your life that may no longer be useful or productive, and then to develop options for change.
Depending on a client's needs and goals, I offer brief problem-solving therapy and/or longer-term psycho-dynamic psychotherapy.
I work with people to isolate those patterns of behavior that may no longer be effective or adequate, and provide a therapeutic atmosphere for change.
I enjoy working with both individuals and couples.
By design, I have maintained a broad-based practice, welcoming clients with many presenting concerns. However, some of my areas of special expertise include -
