LEARN ABOUT THE ROUX-GA-ROUX LEGEND
As you travel through southern Louisiana, you’ll come across the tale of the mythical roux-ga-roux. This ancient legend began with the French settlers and has been passed down from generation to generation.
Children in southern Louisiana are raised to fear the roux-ga-roux. The monster has the body of a human and the head of a wolf. The folklore states that this mythical creature is cursed for 101 days. When the spell is lifted on the 102nd day, the roux-ga-roux takes on a human form and hunts for victims.
If you visit the swamp areas, you’ll hear parents calling for their children: “Get inside before the roux-ga-roux gets you!”
At Roux-Ga-Rouz Seafood, we embrace this southern fable as a nod to the traditions of southern Louisiana.
