Hiking to Scoville Point on the 4.4 mile Stroll Trail on Isle Royale's Northwestern tip. These 4 miles of rugged coast line on Isle Royale National Park are among the best 100 miles of trail in the whole National Park System. Hike through serene spruce and fir forest, view the rocky bluffs, and the glorious shore line of Lake superior. The trail alternates between the boreal forest and the Lake Superior shoreline. It is most spectacular on a stormy day like the day we experienced.

A female Common Merganser fishing at Rock Harbor in Isle Royale. The Common Merganser has a long slender bill with serrated edges, warm reddish head and a ragged crest. The Merganser is a fish eating duck, it swims along the surface dipping its head underneath repeatedly until prey is spotted, then dives in pursuit.
