Tom has over 30 years experience in carpentry and has been licensed in Maryland since 1992 and in Pennsylvania since 2010. Tom and Erin Barna are the principles of this small family owned and operated company, by choice, in order to provide the valued and rare small home town service our customers deserve. We know our potential, current and past customers by name, not by address or a contract number. We are able to ensure the highest quality of workmanship and that only the best materials are used in the projects we build by remaining small. We at Russett Deck Professionals, Inc. take pride in the fact that our relationships with our customers are not only professional but that we are able to enjoy these relationships on a personal level as well.
Tom graduated top of his class in 1981 in carpentry from Perth Amboy Vocational-Technical High School in New Jersey. He started out working for a general home remodeling contractor for two years then went on to building large custom single family homes. In 1988 Tom moved to Northern California where he worked for a general home improvement contractor doing a variety of residential and commercial projects, including fire and earthquake damage repairs. He relocated to Maryland in 1991 and once again worked for a general home improvement contractor until he became licensed in 1992. At that time Tom began working as a sub-contractor for general home improvement companies which in turn led him to be a contractor specializing in decks. Tom is a certified installer of TREX®, AZEK®, and FIBERON®. As you can tell, Tom has been in the building trade since 1981 and still enjoys building today.
Erin graduated from San Jose State University in California with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991 and was commissioned an Officer in the U.S. Navy. (That's how we came to Maryland.) In February 1995 she left nursing to focus on family and join Tom in building Russett Deck Professionals. As of January 2004 Erin returned to nursing part-time but works in the office several days a week and most evenings.
So here we are today.....
