October is SIDS Awareness Month! New Jersey's rate of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) is among the lowest in the US due to educational initiatives of the SIDS Center of New Jersey. Education about safe infant sleep is the key to keeping infants safe, and the SIDS Center collaborates with hospitals, home visiting programs and many other providers to raise awareness of these practices. A new tool that the SIDS Center is sharing with partners is a baby onesie that reminds parents and grandparents to place infants to sleep on their backs, one of the leading risk-reducing steps parents can take. The onesies are accompanied with information about other risk-reducing guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics and instructions for accessing SIDS Info, the SIDS Center's free mobile phone app available for iOS and Android. The app contains graphics, text, and voiceovers in English and Spanish, along with many other resources that help convey the all-important safe sleep message. #Rutgers #rwjms #sidsawareness #nj
