Our owner, Bill Ryan and Michael Segerstrom of Bridgewater Chimney Sweeps are thankful to Copperfield Chimney and Copperfield academy for the opportunity to instruct “Professional Chimney Inspection”, a 2 day class to help the industry advance their chimney inspection knowledge. Additional thanks to Brian Cline and Smokestack Masonry for their hospitality and generosity as hosts for this class! Also thanks go to Mark Calomino and Brian Blasband for organizing and the work behind the scenes.
Stay safe through the storm. Our power is currently out and we cannot return calls. Please be patient. Thank you!
If you have newly cut trees or downed trees and a new batch of firewood REMEMBER, it is not nor will it be ready to burn for at least 1 year. Combustion of green wood regardless of species will create CREOSOTE levels in your fireplace or wood appliance.
To season firewood properly, stack it in a place where the sun can warm it and the wind can blow through it. A single row exposed to the sun and prevailing winds is best—as the sun heats and evaporates the water from the wood, the wind whisks it away. Season for a season.
If a tree or large branch has IMPACTED your chimney a STORM, this is an event likely to have caused DAMAGE.
We highly suggest having a Level 2 chimney inspection before closing any storm related insurance claims and BEFORE using the appliance if the chimney was hit during the storm.
To all our clients, referring professionals, families and friends, as of Thursday March 19, Ryan and Son Chimneys has suspended operations temporarily, and at least through April 6. This action was taken to protect our team and their families, our clients and their families and for the good of our society under the current circumstances. That being said, should you find yourself with an emergency related to the venting of your main source of heating, we will arrange to safely address your issue.
During this challenge to our country, please look out for your neighbors, friends and fellow Americans.
We look forward to a time beyond now, when we can return to serving our community. Until then, stay safe, stay vigilant and God Bless America.
