We were asked to perform some clearance pruning on a tree overhanging the construction of a peacock aviary. Definitely a unique pruning project! #sagerprofessionaltreemanagement
Cleanup of a tree-filled perimeter that had not been touched in decades. I’m excited about this transformation for these homeowners!

Drip irrigation is wonderful but what happens when the tree expands and swallows the dripline? Keep your trees healthy and hydrated by ensuring that there is adequate spacing between the tree and the dripline. #sagerprofessionaltreemgmt
Had a ball today helping to get some huge silver maples cleaned up after several branch failures and significant van damage from the recent van storms. Glad that this family can rest well with their children’s bedrooms directly underneath these canopies now that we’ve lightened the load. Here are a few before/after pictures. #sagerprofessionaltreemanagement
Today I witnessed a landscape installation team installing blue spruce trees with the wire basket, burlap, and nursery twine still intact, straight from the nursery. I am seeing this on almost every new tree that goes in the ground in the Treasure Valley and have been helping frustrated homeowners mitigate the damaging effects of these trees as they inevitably struggle 1-8 years down the road. Please ensure that your landscape team is at minimum cutting down the wire basket as much as possible after the tree is in the planting hole, and removing all of the nursery twine that will strangle and girdle the trunk and root systems if left intact. Opening up the burlap so they are not compressed against the root ball will help tremendously as well. #sagerprofessionaltreemanagement
Before/after pictures of a weeping willow (Salix babylonica) pruning. As willows regenerate growth so quickly, periodic crown cleaning/thinning are helpful to avoid branch failures from excessive limb weight.

Although it takes some time to set up the rigging system, mechanical adantage is the most practical way to safely lower large-sized logs to the ground. Mechanical advantage took this log, which outweighs the groundsman here, and made it possible to lift it up and away from the underlying fence and house, to safely lower down. #sagerprofessionaltreemanagement
A cutting technique is being utilized here with the help of a tag-line to drop a large branch hortizontally on the ground between a pool and a fence. Our climber's technique allows the branch the fall to a horizontal plane and avoid digging into the ground from the butt-end (Braveheart style...).
One of the best parts of tree work is technical rigging. This device is called the "Port-a-wrap" which helps a single ground worker to manage up to 2,000 pound, falling log being removed by an elevated climber from the canopy of the tree.
