I would like to introduce you to a remarkable fellow ... M.R. Hansen, PhD. Upon his retirement as a professor at SDSM&T, he created an endowment which benefits current and future students of civil engineering. I have a quirky, fond memory of the day he walked into my shop wanting to create special gifts for donors to that endowment. "I think I would like to use an image of my profile," I recall he said. He stood there that very day as I drew his profile freehand. I DONT DRAW but this one turned out! It was meant to be. M.R. finds fun ways to connect with people and we have used that drawing for many engraving projects. Its been a treat to know and learn from him.

Back in the day, Butler's Hometown Grocery was a hub of activity in Eagle Butte, SD. Many years after their parents' retirement and passing, the Butler kids wanted to preserve the memories of that special place. The butcher block in the meat department was divided into smaller segments and brought to Sand Scripts along with an old photo of the store. We were able to re-create that image to make engraved keepsakes this family can treasure forever.
