Dr. Sara Hogan is a board-certified, fellowship-trained medical and cosmetic dermatologist who practices in Santa Monica. Her clinical interests include laser surgery, burn scars, hair loss disorders, autoimmune connective tissue disease and ethnic skin care. She has expertise in a variety of cosmetic procedures including neuromodulator (Botox) and soft tissue filler injections (Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero, Sculptra) for facial lines and volume loss. She also performs sclerotherapy for veins, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, fractionated laser treatments and laser skin resurfacing to treat sun damage, rosacea, scarring, wrinkles, acne and other skin conditions.
Dr. Hogan received her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She then completed an American Society for Dermatologic Surgery-accredited cosmetic, laser and dermatologic surgery fellowship at SkinCare Physicians in Boston—the longest established program of its kind in the nation, with clinical faculty from the dermatology departments at Harvard, Yale and Brown. She also earned her Master of Health Science degree in Health Policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Hogan has been invited to present at national professional conferences, has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has co-authored several chapters in dermatologic textbooks, including Advances in Cosmetic Surgery, Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery, and Moschella & Hurley's Dermatology. She has worked as both a sub-investigator and principal investigator in over 10 clinical research trials for new minimally-invasive cosmetic treatments and laser devices. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hogan is a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and is excited to train the next generation of dermatologists.
Dr. Hogan is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and serves on national committees for each of these organizations. She was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area, and when she's not working, enjoys hiking, sculpting and painting.
