“We create, out of necessity or forgetfulness, a covering that can protect us from all manner of pain and trauma. Suffering occurs when we mistakenly believe that this false layer is our true self. In order to fully realize our identity, we need a technique for recognizing those times when we identify with the covering. That technique is mindfulness—the act of being in the present moment.”

With empathy. With compassion. With love. As healers, it is our role to listen. This week, I do so with a heavy heart and deep respect, as I witness so many in our communities engaged in the struggle to seek justice and equity. This week I dedicate myself to listen, to learn, and to care. I am with you. I wish you--and all--good healing. Find somebody who will listen. Our burdens are too heavy alone.

“A lot of cheap seats in the arena are filled with people who never venture onto the floor. They just hurl mean-spirited criticisms and put-downs from a safe distance. The problem is, when we stop caring what people think and stop feeling hurt by cruelty, we lose our ability to connect. But when we’re defined by what people think, we lose the courage to be vulnerable. Therefore, we need to be selective about the feedback we let into our lives. For me, if you’re not in the arena also getting your ass kicked, I’m not interested in your feedback.” Brene Brown

Therapy is a safe place, free of judgment. The objective is to help you expand your mind and find patterns of thinking/behavior and reactions so you can effectively accomplish your goals. Telling your problems is just the beginning and a small part of therapy. Identifying solutions and developing an action plan and a support system is where the change happens.
Hold that child close and listen to what she says Tales of the old forest faeries January 4 at 10:47 AM · And when We grow up We must never forget That hidden, down deep Within us Is our forever inner child Resting, silently within us Forever waiting Forever hoping That one day We shall Remember it Written by Athey Thompson Art by Arthur Rackham
Mental health is about facing reality...The reality of who we are and the reality of who those around us are...When people are not healthy, they create fantasies about who they and others are. Mental health is about facing reality, growing up, facing losses and losing the fantasy. This can be a painful process of mourning.
We all need time, attention and direction from others...forever, during our entire lives! It's how we grow and how we keep ourselves feeling good. It's necessary to own those needs to survive and thrive.... Does that resonate?
