Why Should I Go to Therapy? 8 Signs It's Time to See a Therapist
Great news!! I am now taking Cigna!!
Finally more and more people are recognizing that depression is more than feeling sad. The worst symptom for me has always been “the impossible task” and it’s a sneaky one. The impossible task could be any number of routine things you do during the day. Examples include: taking a shower, calling a friend, washing/folding laundry, paying the bills, etc. When you are depressed, your brain can make these simple tasks seem like walking across the ocean. It’s hard for people without depression to understand. They say things like, “Come on, it’s just one little thing. It’ll take 5 minutes!” “Don’t be lazy. Depression isn’t an excuse.” “You know you will feel better if you just do it.” But they don’t understand. It’s like fighting a lion. It’s exhausting and it wears you down. The best part is how the impossible task can change every day. It’s rarely difficult. And it’s something you’ve done a thousand times.
If you currently have one or more impossible tasks in your life, be gentle with yourself. You aren’t a failure. You aren’t worthless. You aren’t lazy. You are fighting an invisible battle that is exhausting and not every day will be a win. Ask for help. Reach out to your support system. Let them help.
