. Hopefully, you will go through life without ever getting into an accident. However, this is not the reality for many people living & working in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. For those of you unfortunate enough to get into an accident, there are some things you should know.
Arizona law requires that you stop render assistance and exchange information.
The first thing to do is call 911 to report the accident. If anyone is injured, ask for an ambulance
immediately.
The police will come to the scene and in most cases will write a report. Make sure you get the
“Accident Information Exchange Form” which will have the report no. and other important information such as insurance. The Officer should assist you with the exchange of info.
Do not give statements to anyone about the accident except police and paramedics. Anything you say can be used against you at a later time.
If there are witnesses, make sure they speak to the police and get their names and contact
information.
If you are injured, report that to the police and paramedics at the scene. Go to the nearest emergency room to get treatment for your injuries.
