This residue is hard on your grass, as it keeps water and nutrients from seeping down into the roots. Preventing the buildup of thatch isn't nearly as important as mowing the grass, but you should not overlook its importance for the long run. Over time, you will be able to notice a great improvement in your lawn’s look and feel.
