About

School of Rock Dallas provides both in-person and online music lessons for students of all ages. Our programs, camps and workshops for toddlers, kids, teens and adults make learning to play music fun and create great communities of musicians. School of Rock is the leader in performance-based music education. We combine one-on-one drum, bass, keyboard, vocal, and guitar lessons with group practices. Students learn to play music from day one and put on live performances at local venues. Our experienced instructors are local musicians themselves who combine the performance-based School of Rock Method and programs with individual music lessons to get results for your student.

Dalton Rapattoni is a pop-rock singer/songwriter from Dallas, Texas who is most recently known for being one of the Top 3 finalists on the 15th and "final" season of the Fox Television hit show, "American Idol." Dalton began performing at the age of 12 when he formed his first band Fly Away Hero, which released two EPs. At 14, he was contacted by a casting director that discovered his band through YouTube and was asked to audition for a new act called IM5. The principles were Simon Fuller, Perez Hilton, and Jaime King. From over 30,000 nationwide auditions, Dalton was chosen for the group. Over the next four years, Dalton worked with many well-known producers, songwriters and choreographers including Toby Gad, Harmony Samuels, Rock Mafia, Nappytabs and Meghan Trainor. At 18, Dalton reunited with his childhood band Fly Away Hero, who landed themselves at #17 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart after releasing a new EP titled "Lost and Found" that debuted at #22 on the Alternative charts and included their song "Hercules," written by Dalton, which remains the best selling song on the EP. Dalton's latest solo album, "Nobodys Home" reached #5 on the iTunes Pop chart in September 2017. Dalton teaches vocals, guitar, bass and keyboard. If you would like to take lessons from Dalton, call us 214-363-7625.
As some of you know, we had some bad luck at the school and a truck accident took out our power meter. No electricity means we have had to cancel our rehearsals for the past two days and we were SO bummed out about it. But then we got an awesome video from two of our American Punk show students (who are neighbors and best friends) as they took the opportunity to practice their songs together tonight! How cool is that? 🤘🏼
Spooky mid-season t shirt. Preordering now thru Oct 3rd.
Erik started playing the family piano by ear and singing in choir at church and school by the time he was school age. His passion only grew and as a teen he took lessons and played with a variety of ensembles and bands on piano, guitar, clarinet, violin, voice, and bass. In high school Erik studied piano at Southern Methodist University's Piano Preparatory program and eventually received a minor in Music from the University of North Texas, taking courses in everything from history and theory to jazz and the music of Frank Zappa. With Erik on keys and occasionally lending his talents on acoustic guitar, his eclectic rock band The Raven Charter received praise for its technical prowess and high-energy live shows. During their 11-year run, they filled up rooms in Denton and Dallas and shared the stage with acts like Sevendust, Periphery, and Nonpoint. In recent years, Erik has branched out, playing a diverse cover catalog for events and weddings and sitting in with several pop, rock and country artists. Today, he is the bassist for singer-songwriter Troy Cartwright's touring band. The group travels extensively and has a continually growing resume, opening for southern staples like Pat Green, Turnpike Troubadours and Randy Rogers, to name a few. Erik joined School of Rock February 2016 and enjoys teaching, learning and coaching all styles and ages. Call us today if you would like to take guitar, bass, or keyboard lessons with Erik. 214-363-7625

Today, our SoR Dallas Student Spotlight is on Charlie! Charlie has been taking lessons with us for almost 4 years. He has been in 10 season shows, starting in Rock 101 and now has just joined a Performance level show and is killing it! He has been a drummer all this time but just recently got a bass guitar and has been learning to play that, as well. Charlie’s favorite personal performance was Holy Diver (Dio) at the Hight & Tight Barbershop/Speakeasy during Rockfest. His favorite ever SOR moment was the first time he played on stage at The Curtain Club (R.I.P.) The band he loves to listed to right now is Greta Van Fleet. If Charlie could pick one musician (alive or dead) to hang out with it would be Freddie Mercury, because he thinks he’s really interesting and and he’d like to to ask him about his writing process with Queen.
