About

School of Rock Katy provides both in-person and online music lessons for students of all ages. Our programs, camps and workshops for toddlers, kids, teens and adults make learning to play music fun and create great communities of musicians. School of Rock is the leader in performance-based music education. We combine one-on-one drum, bass, keyboard, vocal, and guitar lessons with group practices. Students learn to play music from day one and put on live performances at local venues. Our experienced instructors are local musicians themselves who combine the performance-based School of Rock Method and programs with individual music lessons to get results for your student.

Meet Morgan. Okay, most of you already know her. This Katy alum now directs shows and Rock 101 and teaches bass and guitar. Stuff you might not know? - Cake > Pie (red velvet especially) - Saw Ghost live in 2014 at House of Blues Houston - Whataburger beats In N Out (but again, only because she hasn't tried In N Out) - Loved teaching Longview by Green Day in our Green Day camp this past summer - Best School of Rock memory: "Wearing beards on my last show for Fashion by David Bowie." - Bonus: Saw Matis Yahu brushing his teeth backstage at Summerfest #livemusic #basslessons #guitarlessons

Longtime drummer Timmy makes it look easy after years of working with instructor Chris Moye. We asked him to tell us his favorite memory at School of Rock Katy. Hands down, our Halloween Themed Cast Party last fall. Brought the house down with costumes and rave lighting!!
A LOT of us miss seeing this guy's face around the school, but have no fear, Stan will be back in person someday soon! This guy started teaching at School of Rock Red Bank in 2011 and then joined us in Katy in 2016. Yet another of our staff chooses Whataburger over In-n-Out. Nicole will be enjoying a lonely meal on her own. In 1975, Stan saw Chicago live - favorite show and has himself played in the metal band Carnivore, Beat Brigade, and the funk band Second Step. His favorite School of Rock Katy memory is the Led Zeppelin show. "That was a fun show. All the songs were spot on and the kids were really great. They were very supportive of each other and showed us (the directors) respect. The drum battle was very impressive!" We miss your face, Stan! Come home soon! #guitarlessons #basslessons
Throwback Thursday to pre-COVID Rookies demonstrating the need for hearing protection! Talk to us about finding the right protection for your young rockstar. #musiclessons #livelessons #remotelearning
Dylan started out on guitar, but has since found a love for songwriting. Watch out for this guy - he writes some beautiful lyrics. His favorite song learned so far at School of Rock Katy is Centuries by Fallout Boy and would LOVE to see them in concert. Cake > pie. Playing with Rock 101 on his birthday is a favorite memory so far. Rock on, Dylan! #guitarlessons #songwriting

November 14, 2020 - We're encouraging everyone who is being bullied, trolled and mistreated online to block out their bully on social media, say no to the negativity, and choose positivity. Block It Out Day is a direct challenge to all forms of cyberbullying. This day works because we all participate and unite to block negativity from our digital lives and, by doing so, erase homophobia, LGBTQ+ discrimination, racism and hatred online. It’s time to make a change. It takes bravery, but when a person blocks out their bully, they’re blocking out negative messages and creating a healthy, safe and positive online environment. When that person encourages their friends to do the same, they are leading by example and helping others create a safe space, too. When we come together in this way, we create a ripple effect that erases the spread of hate and cruelty on social media. On Block It Out Day, you block out more than your bully; you’re blocking out cyberbullying for all. We are asking everyone to block out their bullies, block the negative messages, and create a positive, safe digital space for themselves and their peers. Here is How to Be a Part of National Block It Out Day: Spread the word, send texts, post and get your friends to do the same and pass it on. #dontbeabully #BlockItOutDay
Meet Evetier! Evetier has been a bass instructor with School of Rock Katy since March of 2018, teaching kids to round out that bottom in rock music and directing our Rock 101 kids and shows like a boss. Just like all these other weird Texans at the Katy school, Evetier loves him some Whataburger. His favorite artists live are Paco de Lucia, John Maclaughlin, and Al Di Meola and his favorite show he's directed was Old Metal vs. Nu Metal because of the intensity and level of musicianship shown by the performers. His favorite School of Rock Katy memory was the first time he saw a student of his truly excel on stage. Come take bass from Evetier and you take from a master. #basslessons #musiclessons
