We lost our good friend Mr. Francis Rocco Prestia Jr. (March 7, 1951 – September 29, 2020), better known by his stage name Rocco Prestia, was an American bassist, best known for his work with the funk band "Tower of Power". Prestia is a master of fingerstyle funk, a technique in which he lightly mutes the strings with his left hand to get a percussive sound, with the pitch remaining clear and accurate. That characteristic sound, in combination with a highly rhythmic approach to bass lines, makes Prestia's sound unmistakable.[Along with James Jamerson, Stanley Clarke, Anthony Jackson and Alphonso Johnson, Prestia belongs to a generation of musicians that fostered a revolution on the electric bass—inspiring the innovative work of Jaco Pastorius in the mid-1970s.[3] Prestia's influential style can be heard on classic Tower of Power tracks such as the 1973 hit "What is Hip". Prestia cites James Jamerson and the different musicians who worked for James Brown (particularly Bootsy Collins) as his main influences. (PRAYER GOING OUT TO HIS FAMILY & FRIENDS)! R.I.P. my Brother...🙏🙏🙏

Listening to and playing music can be entertaining, and some research suggests that it might even promote mental health. Music can be a source of pleasure and contentment, but there are many other psychological benefits as well:
1) Music may improve cognitive performance and memory
2) Music may reduce stress and help manage pain
3)Music may improve motivation, endurance and performance
4) Music can boost your mood and may even reduce symptoms of depression
So pick up that instrument and play your heart out - your brain will thank you for it!

A little throwback to 4 years ago..... one of the best artist experiences we have ever had. To sit and watch a working rehearsal with this type of talent was a rare experience for the kids. HUGE Thanks to Lettuce Adam Deitch for coming out and hooking up the kids with drumsticks and Josh at Noble Visions for helping put it together!

Hope to upload a few videos of the kids at the soundcheck for Lettuce. This is when we first showed up...for kids that are learning music through performance, there is no better education than to be able to watch musicians of this caliber work through an actual live arrangement of a tune, starting, stopping, adding or changing parts! This band is also one of the greatest examples of how such amazing individual musicians completely come together for the GROUP sound and experience. Music Education at its finest! THANK YOU Adam Deitch Neal Evans Adam Smirnoff Nigel Hall Ryan Zoidis Eric Benny Bloom Jesus Coomes and Whitney Wangsgaard nad Josh Timmermans
Our new seasons are underway, and there are still spots available!! Call 865-247-4038 for more information.

Excited to finally announce a ROCKIN' Fundraising event we have put together in December to benefit East Tennessee Children's Hospital. On December 13th, from Open Chord / All Things Music, will be hosting ROCKIN' for the KIDS: an All-Star Holiday Benefit Concert/Livestream, featuring a 4 hour music event featuring our House-band and special guests/performances from the Knoxville music community!
The full line-up is being finalized but off to an amazing start with performances from Dave Landeo, Three Star Revival, Bonfire Blue, Bearden Band Horns, Andy Wood, and more to be announced this week!!
