School of Rock is a growing performance-based music school located in the Grand Central District of St. Pete. We are currently looking for an instructor with experience teaching keyboards and vocals. Any experience with other instruments is also a plus. Our instructors teach both in-person and online lessons, lead rock band rehearsals of all ages and experience levels, and help put together gigs and shows for our programs throughout the year.
Candidates must meet least one of the following criteria:
- Prior teaching experience
- An educational background/degree in music
- Current or recent gigging experience in a professional band

Caught this lil’ guy dreaming about a drum solo and thought we’d transcribe it.
Compositionally, the solo holds up to analysis: We begin with a confident dotted-eighth hemiola, followed by a flourish of double-bass blast beats.
The drop in dynamic intensity at measure 4 draws our attention closer as we transition to the groove section at Letter A. Here, we hear a mix of duple and triple subdivisions held together with a strong backbeat on count 3 of each bar. Particularly impressive is the use of the ride bell in this section.
The solo concludes with an understated fill — catnip for drummers!

The 1960s was a decade that saw many remarkable and major changes in society, beliefs, fashion, attitude, and music. It's challenging to recall the Sixties without thinking about its phenomenal music scene. These Black artists and bands started their careers in the early 60s through the late 60s putting their mark on Rock and popular music. Research indicates the brain of a musician, even a young one, works differently than that of a nonmusician. “There’s some good neuroscience research that children involved in music have larger growth of neural activity than people not in music training. When you’re a musician and you’re playing an instrument, you have to be using more of your brain,” says Dr. Eric Rasmussen, chair of the Early Childhood Music Department at the Peabody Preparatory of The Johns Hopkins University, where he teaches a specialized music curriculum for children aged two months to nine years.

ANDREA TAFELSKI - DRUMS AND SINGING TEACHER
By combining her rigorous conservatory training in percussion, her voice, and her passion for songwriting, Andrea has forged a unique and memorable musical experience. She puts percussion in the forefront of her music, using her familiarity with it to compose her songs as well as to perform them.
You’ll find her utilizing the Malletstation, Drumset, and voice simultaneously during solo performances as well as with her group Andē and Co. She has recently performed at Black Crow and Golden Hour Series in Saint Petersburg and is frequently performing in venues throughout St. Petersburg and Tampa.
