As a proficient innovator, Dr. Trenhaile has been awarded another U.S. patent, this time for a new surgical anchor he co-invented. This new anchor, used in conjunction with a bioabsorbable material offers multiple advantages over current anchors in use including better fixation and less suture slippage through knotless technology and stimulating bone growth to replace the absorbable anchor. The new anchor will be available later this year through Smith & Nephew, Inc. Congratulations to OrthoIllinois sports medicine surgeons The Office of Scott W. Trenhaile, MD, Roland Izquierdo, MD, staffers Maria Rivers, PA-C, Rebecca Cheski, ATC, and research fellow Gabrielle Kuhn, BS on the publication of their paper titled The Role of Arthroscopy in Painful Shoulder Arthroplasty: Is Revision Always Necessary? The research findings were published in the June 2020 edition of Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery and demonstrate arthroscopy as a viable option to evaluate and treat painful shoulders after joint replacement.
