ABOUT DR. WEISSMAN
Scott S. Weissman, MD, is an experienced ophthalmologist serving patients at his practice in the Midtown East neighborhood of Manhattan. Since opening his practice in 1989, he offers expertise in all aspects of ophthalmology to patients searching for top-quality eye care in New York City.
Dr. Weissman received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Brookdale Medical Center. He continued his training with a 2-year corneal and inflammatory eye disease fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He served as division chief for over 10 years at New York Ear and Eye Infirmary of Mount Sinai. Dr. Weissman is an attending surgeon at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, New York Ear and Eye Infirmary, and Columbia University Hospital.
Since 1987, Dr. Weissman has pioneered refractive surgery and his research on the Excimer laser helped it achieve FDA approval. He was also one of the very first ophthalmologists to perform LASIK surgery using the CHIRON Hansatome machine, and offers a safer alternative to LASIK called surface ablation. Lauded for his expertise, Dr. Weissman has received recognition as one of the best laser eye surgeons in New York City, and was recognized as one of New York's top doctors in both New York Magazine and Castle Connolly Guide. He has been featured in The New York Times, Inside Edition, Allure Magazine, and Crain’s New York Business. Dr. Weissman has authored 25 articles and seven textbook chapters on eye surgery, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
