We love our pets, but not their smel.ls. Call SERVPRO of Miami Beach to remove the odors from your home.
Did you know that leaving your windows open while running the air conditioning system can cause condensation to build up in the air conditioning unit? Bad odors can form when the moisture escapes into the ductwork due to improper drainage. According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) microbial growths, dirt, and other contaminants can act as pollutants and can cause musty or moldy smells in your ventilation system. SERVPRO of Miami Beach understands the benefits of having your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system serviced and maintained regularly in North Bay Village. The advantages of having your HVAC system serviced are: •Helps to restore peak energy efficiency •May help to eliminate offensive odors •Helps reduce the potential for mold growth The HVAC system is the respiratory system of your house. Sometimes the ductwork will not require cleaning, and when we come out, we will determine your needs and make recommendations to keep your HVAC system properly maintained.

At SERVPRO of Miami Beach, we want to take a moment to thank the firefighters in California, Washington, and Oregon. These fires started on federally owned forest, and they quickly spread to populated areas. Firefighters are working to contain the blazes and to prevent people from being harmed. We appreciate their work more than we can say. SERVPRO of Miami Beach provides remediation and restoration after smaller, less devastating fires. We are in awe of those people who run towards fire rather than to safety.
Protect valuable furniture when experiencing light flooding or a small water loss in your home, with these two tips.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, (III), about one in 50 homes has a water damage property claim annually. Routine inspection of your home may prevent many water damage emergencies, but sometimes no matter how vigilant you are in maintaining your home, water damage can happen. When water enters your home from an outside source, it is referred to as water intrusion. Some examples of water intrusion are sewer line backups, pipe breaks, leaking window seals, roof and rain gutter leaks, and flooding outside the structure. SERVPRO of Miami Beach wants the residents and commercial business owners of North Bay Village to know that we are ready to respond to any size water damage emergency 24 hours a day. Here are some tips for preventing water intrusion damage to your home or business from Facility Executive Magazine: •Clean-out rain gutters •Check for roof damage •Inspect the seals around windows and doors for leaks or damage •Make sure that water sheds away from the building •Inspect plumbing systems •Confirm proper drainage of HVAC equipment

This year, 2020, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicted multiple climate factors which indicated an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season this year, with a sixty percent chance for an above-normal season. The NOAA expected between thirteen to nineteen named storms, between six to ten hurricanes, and anywhere from three to six major hurricanes. With forty-three days to go before the end of the hurricane season this year, we have already had twenty-three named storms, eight hurricanes, and two major hurricanes. But the season isn’t over yet, and SERVPRO of Miami Beach wants the residents of South Beach to know that we are here to help you with any size storm damage emergency you have. Our quick emergency response time allows us to mitigate your storm damage and oftentimes reduce the amount and severity of the damage by tarping and boarding up the areas where water is coming into the structure, and by getting your property dry, cleaned, sanitized, and back to pre-storm condition quickly.

Protecting Your Possessions From Water Damage This picture shows freshly cleaned beach towels and blankets that were damaged by a water heater that failed in the garage of a Surfside home. The water heater water line was corroded, so when it cracked, the water that sprayed and flooded all over the garage and was rusty and smelly. SERVPRO of Miami Beach was called in to mitigate the water damage. We inventoried and removed all of the contents, replaced the supply line to the water heater, and cleaned and deodorized all of the items that were compromised. Here are some tips from the Insurance Information Institute for protecting your possessions from water damage: •Store off-season and other bulk belongings in waterproof bins, especially in areas where there are plumbing pipes or that are prone to dampness, such as basements and attics. •Keep belongings stored on shelving off the floor in basements. In case of water seepage or sewer backup, they're less likely to get damaged. •Keep an up-to-date home inventory. Having a comprehensive list of your possessions will save time, trouble and stress in case of loss from water damage.

Power Outages Happen Did you know that 97 percent of the problems reported to the Florida Power and Light Company were attributed to power outages? Storms and downed power lines are some of the causes. SERVPRO of Miami Beach has been mitigating storm damage in the Miami Beach area for years, and we offer these tips from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for surviving during a power outage: •Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The refrigerator will keep food cold for about four hours. A full freezer will keep the temperature for about 48 hours. Use coolers with ice if necessary. Generators, camp stoves or charcoal grills should always be used outdoors and at least 20 feet away from windows. Never use a gas stovetop or oven to heat your home.

Bad bathtub drain? The bathroom in this picture looks great now because it was recently remodeled due to a drainage problem at the base of the bathtub. According to a study published by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), homes that were thirty years old were three times more likely to have a plumbing supply or drainage problem. SERVPRO of Miami Beach responds to water damage emergencies seven days a week in the North Bay Village and Miami Beach areas and knows that even a small water leak can cause a lot of damage if the water leak is not discovered and mitigated quickly. Here are some loss prevention and maintenance tips from the IBHS: •Visually inspect plumbing pipes annually and look for condensation around the pipes for an obvious leak and corrosion. •Pay attention to your water bill as a significant increase could indicate a leak. •Call a plumber at the first signs of rust-colored water, backed-up toilets or sinks, and cracked or warped flooring.
