If you’re stitching with a cotton thread in your sewing machine and have a thread break, the way that the thread breaks can actually tell you a lot about what went wrong💡 (right) If it looks a little shrivelled up, that means the thread snapped from a great surge of tension, so much that it pulled the thread until it snapped and then sprang back a little. If this happens, try loosening your tension or ensure you’re sewing with the right size needle. (left) If it looks like a clean break, that means it was cut by something, so check your needle or needle plate for burrs, or something in the machine. A well maintained machine will always sew the best!😉👌 #tiptuesday

Hi everyone! Julie and I wanted to give you a quick update re: Thanksgiving.
We’re going to be taking our first “vacation” since March 13th; after the tremendous support we got for our anniversary & election distraction sale, as well as working nonstop for the past 8 months, we decided we are going to be taking the week of Thanksgiving to take a short break and get some R & R.
What this means: we will not be in the store fulfilling online orders from 11/23 - 11/29. With that in mind, if you have any projects you plan on making over the Thanksgiving long weekend, please get your orders in BEFORE 11/21. The website will remain active, so feel free to place orders, but we will not begin fulfilling until 11/30. **If you’re running low on thread or needles, order some NOW so you don’t have to worry about being “stranded” for the week of Thanksgiving!!** The 25% discount on fabric, precuts, notions, books, and patterns is currently active!
More importantly, it’s important during this time of year to acknowledge systemic issues that Native Americans face— economic disparity, voter suppression, and significant, and disproportionate impact that COVID-19 has had on the Native American community (side note: there are many more issues that Native Americans face, but I will get into a novel’s worth of writing if I keep going). Therefore, for the week of Thanksgiving, we will be disabling the 25% discount and instead donate the 25% of profits to the First Nations Development Institute’s <https://www.firstnations.org> COVID-19: Emergency Response Fund <https://www.firstnations.org/covid-19-emergency-response-fund/>. OR you can directly donate to their fund to honor them this Thanksgiving and give aid to (one of the many) communities that desperately need our help right now.

As you all know, we are heading into dangerous time in this pandemic. PLEASE consider keeping your Thanksgiving plans to your immediate household only! While we all miss our family and friends, the number 1 cause of spread right now is SMALL GATHERINGS with friends and family outside of your household. The sooner we flatten the curve, the sooner we can start to get back to “normal” lives, and the sooner we can start doing curbside pickup and (eventually) in-store shopping. [We will do curbside pickup and machine service when LA county hits Tier 2; limited in-person shopping will slowly begin when we hit Tier 3].
